How To : Blue Smokey Eyes

Products Used  : -
Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer in the shade Natural
L'oreal's True Match Mineral's Powder
Urban Decay's Eyeshadow primer potion
L'oreal's Infalliable Eyeshadow in All Night Blue from the new L'or collection!
Dior's eyeshadow in Argentic
L'oreal's Super liner eyeliner
Maybelline's The Falsies Mascara
Mac's Fix Plus

Tools Used : -
The Body shop's Eyeshadow Blender brush
Sponge tip eyeshadow brush (Beauty Center)
Eyelash curler from Faces

Steps : -
1) Apply some concealer around your eyes to create an even base and cover up any darkness. Set it with any setting powder or foundation.

2) Use a eye shadow primer to make sure that your eye shadow lasts longer and to make the colours look vibrant.

3) Using a eye shadow blending brush start blending the dark blue colour into your crease. Slowly increase the amount to darken the shadow. Gradually building the colour up will help you to achieve the look better than going super dark all at once.

4) Spray some fix plus on to your sponge tip brush and dip it into any silver shadow. Now apply this eye shadow on to the middle and inner corner's of your eyes.

5) Next, apply a thin eye liner using either an eyeliner brush or in my case L'oreal's Super Liner.

6) Curl your eyelashes and coat them with your favourite Mascara preferably waterproof.

And voila. Go ahead and rock this Monsoon friendly night time look!

Pleats

Skirt- Styledrive for Spring Break, Shirt- Zara, Shoes- Asos, Necklace- Bandra, Bangles & rings- Forever21

Pleated skirts have been an essential for my summer wardrobe for the past few years. So when I was working on the Styledrive for Spring Break collection, I was keen on adding this style to it. They are feminine, fun, hassle free and can easily work for a day time or night time look. I like to balance the feminine pleats out with a button up. I also added a statement necklace in a contrasting colour to add some more dimension to the outfit. As for the shoes, I have been wanting to wear these babies ever since I got them. Like every other shoe, these  too have a story behind. I think I'll leave that for later though. As of now I am just basking in the glory of these gorgeous pleats.

Wardrobe Essentials 101

I have often been asked to list down some essential items that a girl should have in her closet. So I decided to do a few posts on some of the things that I consider inevitable from mine. Here's the first part of my list.

1) A black bag
This is something that in my opinion, should never leave your wardrobe. I for one replace my black bag even before I get rid of the previous one. It works with literally every outfit you could ever put together and even act as a catalyst for super loud colors. You could choose a style that you like. I carry my world with me and so for me big tote bags work splendidly.

2) A white shirt
I cannot emphasize enough on how important it is for every girl to have a well fitted white shirt in her closet. It works with formal outfits, with casual skirts or even paired over your favorite jeans. It seems to work brilliantly as a cover up as well. When choosing that precious white shirt, make sure that it fits you well. If you're someone who loves the oversized look then go with something a size bigger. Try and choose a cotton one as it would be easy to wear throughout the year.

3) A stripped top
A black and white stripped top is such a transitional piece. It can be worn casually with jeans or shorts and be dressed up teamed together with a floral shirt or pants. They even compliment the on going colored denims trend and work wonderfully under blazers. Super easy to style, they instantly add a chic touch to any outfit. When picking one of these, try to avoid broad stripes. Go for smaller, even stripes. I personally love the black and white combination, you could however even opt for a navy and white one!

4) A bright skirt
Now this is something that can make even a plain white t-shirt look dressy. Just add some statement jewelry and you're good to go. I prefer a bright skirt over say a bright dress because you can pair the skirt with so many different blouses and make it look like a new outfit every single time. These are perfect for night outs and to brighten up day time events. Choose the length of your skirt according to your comfort level and body type. A knee length one seems to work perfectly with everyone. When picking one try going for a color that suits your skin tone. If your skin tone is like mine go for a red, pink, orange or maybe a yellow.

5) Black high heels
A pair of black pumps go well with everything. For me my black pumps are my most worn shoes. But you don't necessarily need to go for pumps. You could opt for Mary Janes, platform sandals or even something strappy. Black high heels can help you make even a casual pair of jeans and t-shirt look so glamourous. These are shoes that you can rely on. These for me are my constant back-up shoes.

If you have all of these items in your closet, you just got one step closer to having the perfect wardrobe.

Summer Cocktail

Tank- H&m, Skirt- Styledrive for Spring Break Collection, Necklace- Colaba ,Cuff- Topshop, Rings- Blur & Accessorize, Bag- H&m, Sandals- Bata (last year)

I love how colours get so bright during summer and the way orange and purple are taking over the world (courtesy Pantone and Prabal Gurung). I have been wearing so much of both the colours individually but I was surprised to see them go so well together. Not that I haven't seen other people rock this combination before(Gucci spring 2011 should ring some bells) but you know it's always the best when you see yourself doing it right.
I have also been adorning my skirts & dresses like never before. The heat in this city keeps getting worse and what better way to beat the heat than with flowy silhouettes? I also prefer wearing lighter fabrics and minimalistic pieces during summer because I cannot skip my jewellery no matter what. And with statement jewellery making such a huge comeback how could I be left behind? After all I own more jewellery than clothes. No kidding. I think I have spoken enough (here) about how I think investing in accessories is the right thing to do.
Besides me blabbering about my outfits, I have just been busy with finishing off the last segment of the Styledrive for Spring Break collection. It has been such a great learning experience for me! Anyway, hope you guys are having a splendid summer. Until next time.

Sunshine yellow

Cropped Jacket- Styledrive for Spring Break Collection, Dress- Hues, Shoes- Asos, Belt- Forever21, Bracelets- Assorted, On my nails- Sally Hansen's Shrimply divine

I've heard the best outfits are the one's that come together in 5 minutes and for me this was one of them. I wore this outfit to a recent Steve Madden event. The invite looked fun and so I decided to dress up in a fun complimentary outfit. If you follow my Facebook page, then you know that I am currently obsessed with yellow and this jacket seemed to fit right in. It's bright, it's light and it's oh so flattering. I contrasted the bright hue with a navy polka dotted dress that I recently scored at Hues(it's originally from Charlotte Rousse). It's got a cutout at the back and that's the reason why I had to have it, besides the fact that it was a steal. And for some reason, I seem to love the yellow and navy combination. I decided to have an arm party so I stacked up all the bracelets I currently own. No I'm kidding, it would take more than 2 hands to stack up all the bracelets I own. And finally I finished the look off with some sky high heels. Wondering where my bag is? Well I decided to give my clutch a skip & may I add that it was one of the best decisions I've taken so far because during the entire event I had a cupcake in one hand and a wine glass in the other. C'est la vie.

Top 5 favourite lipstick brands

I was never into makeup products like I am now. It's been almost 2 years since I first started collecting makeup and learnt about the techniques and tools to be used. It's definitely something that intrigues me a lot and now I end up spending a lot of my money on it.
As I got more and more into it, I also figured out how certain brands are better with certain products or simple things like shelf lives of a product and how to spend less money on things like Mascara which can only last you a maximum of 3 months and more on products with a longer shelf life.
My all time favourite make up products would have to be a good concealer, a voluminousness mascara and a bright lipstick! These are 3 things that I cannot live without. I have collected quite a few lipsticks- some high end and some drug store, over the years. Here are my top 5 lipstick brands :-

1) Maybelline

They make such amazing products at such affordable prices. I love their lip products! I own a few of their  lipsticks and Pink Petal is by far my favourite shade from Maybelline. They cost somewhere around Rs.300 and smell amazing (if you care for that). The packaging is alright, not my favourite but it works out. All in all you get more than what you pay for and if you are a lipstick lover like me, you must try these!

2) Revlon

Revlon is such an amazing brand just generally. I love their mascaras, their nail polishes, their lip glosses and of course the lipsticks! They make some absolutely wonderful finishes in gorgeous colours. They range anywhere between Rs.400-600 and usually have a sleek black packaging. My favourite Revlon colours have to be Coral and Pink Pout. Both of them look gorgeous on a skin tone like mine and stay on for a good amount of time! So next time you're at the mall don't forget to check out the Revlon counter!
( I can't wait for their Lip Butters to launch in India. I picked up two of them on my recent Holiday and I absolutely love them!)

3) MAC

Mac by far has the most amazing colour range as far as lipsticks go. They do about 5 finishes out of which Amplified and Creme sheen's are my favourites! Everytime I go to a Mac store, I want to buy more lipsticks! It's kind of a problem. But they are so amazing. Not only do they have a sleek packaging and delicious smell but they are also moisturizing and last on my lips for a decent amount of time. The darker colours tend to stay on better though. They are priced at Rs.990 unless they are from a limited edition collection. My favourites would have to Impassioned, Russian Red and Chatterbox. Do try them if you love wearing lipsticks and want to invest in some good one's. Mac also has a back to mac policy, in which you can take back 6 empty product containers and get a Free lipstick in return! Bonus points!

4) Chanel

Chanel is one of my favourite cosmetic brands. Their products smell so good and every time I use Chanel products, it just makes me happier. Their lipsticks are not the best but they are pretty good. I am not a big fan of their finishes and colour palettes but every now and then I do find a shade I love. They cost around Rs.2000 and are definitely not something I indulge in all the time! Their lip glosses are pretty awesome too. Pluses, they are super moisturizing, smell SO good and I love the packaging. Minuses, over priced.

5) Nyx/ Colorbar

Okay so these 2 brands rank the same for me! They are both amazing and cost the least out of all the brands I've mentioned above. I love the Nyx Matte lipsticks and their Soft Matte lip Creams! I had ordered so many from www.beautyjoint.com( btw, you can get a discount on this site if you use the code- STYLEDRIVE at checkout) last year and since then I have received a compliment every single time I've worn them in person or even in my outfit posts! Their packaging is pretty good but what I love the most is the colour pay off of their lipsticks! Another amazing thing is that their Matte lipsticks are not drying unlike most brands. Really good stuff!

As for Colorbar, I own 3 of their lipsticks and they are all so good! Not a big fan of their packaging but I love their wide range of colors and the fact that they are so affordable! My favourite shade would have to be Smokey Rose.

So these are my top 5 favourite lipstick/lip product brands! Which is your favourite lipstick brand? I love lipsticks and I enjoy trying new shades all the time, so do leave a comment below and tell me if know of a  shade that you think I should try!

How to : Studded Shoes

Shoes- Colaba(Rs.150), Studs- Something Special, Glue gun- Any stationery shop

I have been seeing studded shoes, clothes and bags in almost every store and on every website since over a month now. And though I like the trend, I wasn't sold out by any particular piece. So I decided to try my hands on making something similar which  would be easy on my pocket and would satiate my need of having something studded! I studded a pair of black shoes, you could use the same technique and stud an old bag or even the pocket or collar of an old t-shirt or blouse.

What you need :-
- Flat studs
- Glue gun/ Adhesive
- A pen
- A pair of old or new shoes

Steps
1) Take a pen and mark the places on the shoes where you would like to place your studs. This will make it easier when you start placing the studs.

2) Now take your glue gun and apply some of that glue to the marked spots and simultaneously place the studs before the glue dries.

3) Check if you want to add some more studs here and there to make it look better.

4)Let the glue dry for an hour or so before you flaunt them. And there, you have your own pair of studded shoes.

A tip- Don't worry about the studs being symmetrical unless you have a particular pattern in mind.

Hope this gave you some fun ideas! Also, don't forget to enter the Styledrive for Spring Break Giveaway which ends tomorrow!
